As they enter their classroom, Mrs. Howard greets them and begins to take roll call. Sheldon immediately corrects her on her pronunciation of his name, which she appreciates.

However, things quickly take a turn when Sheldon discovers that Jessica is not only a girl but also a whiz with math. He becomes competitive and starts to show off his knowledge, much to the amusement of his classmates.

Upon arrival, Sheldon meets up with his friends, Leonard and Wil Wheaton, and they discuss their summer vacations. Sheldon reveals that he spent most of his summer reading advanced physics books and working on a new experiment.
