Sheldon approaches his drama teacher, Mr. Lundy (returning guest star Jason Alexander), after class. He asks for advice on “moral dilemmas involving family deception.” Mr. Lundy, thinking it’s for a school play, enthusiastically launches into a monologue about Iago in Othello . Sheldon interrupts: “No, real life. My grandmother is lying about something.” Mr. Lundy pauses, then says: “Kid, sometimes the stage is safer than the dining table.”
Sheldon takes this as permission to investigate. Dinner. Meemaw is unusually quiet. Sheldon watches her like a hawk. He notices she avoids eye contact when anyone mentions “extra money.” He asks directly: “Meemaw, have you acquired a sum of money through morally dubious means?” Mary nearly chokes on her meatloaf. George Sr. tries to hide a smile.
Meemaw offers to give $200 to the church roof fund. Mary says $300. They settle on $250. Meemaw mutters: “Should’ve bought a chimichanga instead.” Sheldon gets a package in the mail. It’s a used laptop — not new, but upgraded. The card reads: “From Meemaw. Don’t tell your mother I spent $400. And don’t calculate the depreciation.”
