Bdmv [upd]: Shetland S04e03

A wooden boat shed. The door creaks open. Inside, a rusted anchor chain is tied around a stone block – the same stone block from last episode’s murder. Perez’s shadow falls over it. He kneels. He touches the chain. His fingers come away red.

Back to the aerial shot. The helicopter circles. Below, a tiny rowboat drifts unmanned toward the Norwegian trench. On the seat: a single woollen glove.

“You didn’t just bury a body. You buried the truth. And Shetland… Shetland remembers everything.”

Inside a crofter’s kitchen. A single lamp swings. Forensic officers in white suits lift a floorboard. Beneath it: a child’s woollen glove, stained with dark, old blood. TOSH (Alison O’Donnell) watches, her jaw tight.

A black Land Rover tears down a single-track road. Headlights cut through vertical rain. Behind the wheel, a panicked hand – a woman’s ring on a chain hanging from the rearview mirror.

TOSH in her car, alone. She pulls a crumpled photograph from her pocket – a missing girl from 1997. She turns it over. On the back, written in crayon: “I’m sorry.”
