The cabinet sighed. The nugget rose through the screen, floating past Leo, leaving a trail of seasoned salt. It broke through the arcade roof, into the night sky, where it became a new constellation: Nugget Major . The arcade lights returned. The Whack-a-Mole beeped. He blinked
He clicked .
In the greasy, flickering neon glow of a forgotten arcade, Leo discovered the game no one else would play. It sat in the corner of The Golden Chalice Food Court , wedged between a broken Dance Dance Revolution machine and a Whack-a-Mole that hadn't been whacked since 2007. The cabinet was shaped like a deep fryer, and its screen displayed a single, trembling chicken nugget.
