Azusa — Nagasawa Hot!

Note: This post is intended as a critical appreciation of a cult film figure. Viewer discretion is advised for the films mentioned, as they contain graphic adult content.

She didn't survive the industry. But her art did. azusa nagasawa

That moment is why, 50 years later, we are still writing about her. Azusa Nagasawa is not a cautionary tale. She is a mystery. Until a grainy photo surfaces of an elderly woman in rural Japan who claims she used to be in the movies, Nagasawa remains a time capsule of late-Showa era grief. Note: This post is intended as a critical

Here is why Azusa Nagasawa remains a fascinating, haunting figure nearly 50 years after her disappearance from the screen. Azusa Nagasawa’s career is the definition of a meteor. She appeared in only a handful of films between 1976 and 1978, yet she left a dent in the cult film world that actresses with decades-long careers would envy. But her art did

For the uninitiated, Nagasawa is often dismissed as simply a "Pinky Violence" star or a tragic B-movie footnote. But to look at her work—even the small amount that survives—is to witness a screen presence so raw, so untamed, that it transcends the genres she worked in.

I played the marimba at school. Sigur Ros uses them a lot. Their friend made one out of rocks he found at a landfill.

Kinda surprised that this is like the only Moonface release with a review here. I'm not a huge Krug fan . . . or even a Wolf Parade fan for that matter . . . but the last two minutes of "Julia With Blue Jeans On" capture a ~mood~, and I think about them often
