I yanked the keyboard away. It didn’t matter. The computer continued typing on its own.
Silence.
But that night, I dreamed of green phosphor code cascading down a black screen. And at the bottom, a single line: activex windows 7
I was seventeen, and I knew better. Or so I thought.
The browser groaned to life. The navigation bar filled with URLs from a previous era. I typed “youtube.com” and hit Enter. I yanked the keyboard away
And sometimes, late at night, I swear I hear it laughing.
I don’t work with computers anymore. But I still have that old hard drive. Buried in my garage. Wrapped in tinfoil. Silence
